Secrets Of The Pay-per-click Advertising

Published on 06/09/2010 by Mykola Stepanyuk
Pay per click advertising is one of the major components of internet marketing, if not the largest one. Internet marketing aims at promoting websites. In other words, its goal is to drive visitors to a particular website. Pay-per-click advertising is one of the techniques, which can make that possible. Here an advertiser pays search engine (Google, Ping, Yahoo, whatever) for every click, people do on his ads, which are published alongside with the natural or generic search results. There are tons of secrets on PPC advertising in the Internet. Some of them are vague, others are really helpful. Below we will try to summarize some key tips of effective internet marketing with PPC.

1/ Develop your PPC plan in advance. Think about how much money are your ready to invest in this form of internet marketing and what your daily budget is going to be. Think about the profitability of your business. You cannot pay for clicks more that you are likely to earn through generated traffic.

2/ Prefer specific keywords instead of the most general ones. For example, “Ohio car transporter” is better than “car transporter”.

3/ Don’t try to win the first prize. Bidding the highest rate may be tempting, but often the cost of first place is inflated, especially for highly-searchable keywords. It is usually more reasonable to bid on more specific keywords with less popularity, but with more chances to bring you real customers. Even if your ad is displayed second or third, you still have powerful tools to attract visitors’ attention, for example, by quality ad copy.

4/ Target your ads to your potential audience. Use geographic targeting to receive clicks from the people, who are most likely to buy your products or services.

5/ Be creative with title and descriptions. There are certain length limitations on these, so try to think out some short but catchy phrase to attract visitors and make them love visiting your site.

6/ Prepare quality landing page. Google has quality score, which influences the bid rate. You need to keep your quality score high to receive lower bids. Landing page quality is one of the factors, influencing the quality score. So make it relevant to your ad. Landing page should contain keywords you specified in your ad.

7/ Care about statistics. Statistics is important in internet marketing. For example, conversion rate can help you understand how many clicks you need to make one sale. This will help you better understand how much money you can afford for click rate.

8/ Do not send people to your homepage. If you advertise leather sofas in Dallas, put the link directly to the page, where people can view the information on this very type of furniture and order it, instead of directing visitors to your homepage with the complete catalogue on it.

9/ One item per one advertisement. Do not try to create one ad for multiple products or services, you offer. If you have multiple items in stock, simply create separate ads for those of them, you wish to advertise.

10/ Do not try to catch all the fish. If you sell antivirus software, a good ad copy will be “Two-year antivirus protection for $49” instead of just “Protect your PC for two years”, because the first option will filter out all those customers, who are looking for free antivirus solutions.
