Forums > Domain Name Registration > New gTLD Draft Application Guidebook is available
|
As reported, the ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) has just published online the draft of a document called gTLD Application Guidebook, which regulates the procedure of top level domains registration.
Actually, this news will be of greater interest for domain name registrars rather than for common Internet users or website owners. However, even they may find it useful to learn a few key facts from this document, which is currently available for public discussion at ICANN website.
So, what new terms and rules are about to be implemented in regard of domain name registration process?
First of all, the new version will introduce new measures of trademark protection, including such mechanisms, as Uniform Rapid Suspension, Trademark Clearinghouse, and the Post-Delegation Dispute Resolution Proposal. Some novelties will appear in the field of geographic domain names, namely the country names are going to be placed under taboo. A new gTLD Registry transition process model is described; as well as the revised base agreement for signing between all future registries and ICANN is presented.
