Content is often called a king of search engine optimization. Indeed, content is among the basic constituents of the successful website design and internet marketing. While there are no predefined rules of working with content, below we will still try to summarize some of the best practices of creating content for the web and give it to you as some practical tips for you to use in your own internet marketing project.
- Keeping in mind the golden rule of SEO, saying that content is a king, develop high quality and original content for your site. Focus on adding only authentic content, since duplicated materials will not do any good for you in terms of SEO. You can either write the content by yourself or take the most of working with professional web content writers, who are experienced in creating content based on particular keywords.
- Update your content regularly. Working with the content is not a one-time assignment. If you want to be successful with internet marketing and improve your site rankings, you will have to make you site “live” by adding new and new content to it. This can be done with news releases, articles, corporate news, new products descriptions, etc. Basically, whatever format you will choose, the more fresh content you have on your site – the better it is for site ranking by search engines.
- Working with content, try to focus not only on the keywords, for example “furniture”, but also on search phrases as “modern furniture”, “hand-made furniture”, etc. This will give you more chances to get higher ranking in the narrow search phrases. Besides, such keywords phrases will generate more deliberate traffic to your site. Only those, who search for hand-made furniture, will visit your site.
- Use local identification in your content. Writing articles or other web content, try to define the location of your business. This will help your site to climb up in the local search results. For example, if you offer furniture in Texas, there is no point of struggling for good rankings in European search results. Just bind your keywords with the location, for example “hand-made furniture in Texas” and you will get more visits from your local potential customers.
- Try to use the keywords not only in your textual content, but also in the site description tag, in the <alt> tags for the used images, and even in the domain name if possible.
- Do not overdo with keywords density. If you feel your text sounds unnaturally because of abnormally high frequency of keywords used – rewrite such text to make it more natural for real visitors. Generally, it is recommended to use one keyword per 100 words of the text. So, in the usual web article of 400-450 words you can use the same keyword about 4 times.
- Use one keyword phrase for one page of content. Do not try to optimize a single page for several different keywords.
- Make your web content viral. Well, it does not mean you have to spread viruses or spam. Just allow your visitors post comments on your postings, add some consumer’s ratings mechanisms, or polls, allowing visitors to express their own thoughts and feelings on your site.
