Web Design And HTML 5

Published on 01/29/2010 by Wayne Foster
It is quite likely that if you have been reading about website design you may have come across references to HMTL 5.

HTML 5 - What to Expect
HTML, which is an abbreviation for Hyper Text Mark up Language, is the major language used for creation of the web. Over the years HTML has been developed and redeveloped with the aim of creating an optimal version. Work on HTML 5 which is the fifth revision to HTML began almost three years ago and is still a work in progress.

There are many proposed new features which will be included in HTML 5. The following are two examples.

HTML 5 will contain new block level elements
The new block level elements featured in HTML 5 can be broken in to section, header, footer, nav and article. This will able the mark up of documents with greater structure in comparison to the current non-semantic div elements. All these will help move HTML5 towards becoming a scientific document mark up language.

HTML 5 will include various presentation elements
The decision to include various presentation elements to HTML 5 has been quite controversial. However HTML 5 will see the inclusion of elements such as i and b. The inclusion of such elements into HTML 5 is to prevent authors from abusing elements such as strong and em to obtain presentational effects.
